1. Billy the Kid's Photo

Back in 2010, Randy Guijarro from Fresno, California found a rare tintype photograph believed to show the infamous outlaw Billy the Kid. It was later authenticated and estimated at $5 million.






2. Chinese Vase

The owners, a brother and sister who were clearing out their late parents’ modest home in suburban Pinner, West London, had to be taken out of the auction room in shock as frenzied bidding lasted half an hour.UK couple discovered a Qing Dynasty vase in their attic. The vase later sold at auction for over £51.6 million.







3. Shakespeare's First Folio

In 2008 a retired librarian stumbled upon a First Folio of William Shakespeare's plays in France. It's one of the rarest and most valuable books in the world, fetching millions at auction.

4. Gurliutt Collection

Cornelius Gurlitt, the son of one of Hitler's official art dealers was found with a hidden collection of art, including works by Picasso and Matisse. The collection is estimated to be worth over $1 billion.



5. Declaration of Independence

In 1989 a bargain hunter purchased an old painting for $4 and discovered a copy of the Declaration of Independence hidden behind it. It sold for $2.42 million.


6. Chinese Bowl

A New York family found a rare Ming Dynasty bowl at a garage sale, selling it for $2.2 million.


7. Antique Blanket

A woman found a Navajo blanket in a thrift store and later sold it for nearly $2 million.


8. Rhino Horn Cup

A man purchased a small cup at a garage sale, which turned out to be a 17th-century rhino horn cup worth around $1.5 million.


9. Ferrari in a Barn

Two men found a vintage Ferrari 250 GT California Spyder in a barn, which was later sold for millions.


10. Original Emancipation Proclamation

A collector found a copy of the Emancipation Proclamation, signed by Abraham Lincoln. It was sold at auction for over $1.5 million.

None of these were uncovered by professionals so with a keen eye and a lot of luck you could uncover a fortune too!
