A vintage Staunton style lacquered chess set with box, all pieces in excellent condition except for one chip to the collar of the white Queen. The Kings stand 93mm (3.66") high. The chess set is complete with green felt basesko, the woodgrain is exceptional, likely dating from the mid 20th century.
 
The box measures 20 x 15.5cm (7.87" x 6.1").
 
Also included is a chessboard a distinctive faux book or "library" board, covered in stamped leather to resemble two large volumes—these were popular in Britain from the late Victorian era through the 1930s, particularly in upscale home libraries.​
 
The board measures 45.7 x 52 x 7.5cm (18" x 20.47" x 2.95") and the squares 4.5cm (1.77") square.
