Two vintage engravings of Kings College Cambridge one by Mabel Oliver Rae, signed in pencil, the other by J. W. King, signature printed on this one. Both framed under glass, frame size of each 30 x 27.7cm

Mabel Oliver Rae (1868-1956)
Rae was born in Cambridge and trained at the Slade 1888-1890. Her commercial work consists mostly of etchings of Oxford, Cambridge, and British public schools. She signed her work as ‘M Oliver Rae’ to hide the fact that she was a woman (which would have impaired her ability to sell views of the male-dominated Oxford and Cambridge colleges).

The rich tones of her etchings make them as popular today as when they were first made.
