An officer's riding crop or swagger stick sporting British Army Royal Signals Corps badge and dating from WW2. The emblem shows Mercury (Hermes), the winged messenger god, holding a caduceus, a symbol of communication—this is the standard insignia of the Royal Signals and with the motto “Certa Cito” (“Swift and Sure”).

 

The Royal Corps of Signals was formally established in 1920, and their insignia has remained largely unchanged, the crop has a wrapped grip, leather shaft, and white metal fittings. 

 

The crop measures 90cm (35.5")
