An original very early 17th century document from the reign of James the first, on vellum and dated 1606. Vellum (animal skin) was common for official legal documents at this time, primarily due to it's durability. The large elaborated capital letter and flourished heading is  stylistically typical of manuscripts of the time, carefully prepared and beautiful to look at and enjoy written in a early modern English beautiful script remaining clear and legible and in excellent condition for a document of over 400 years old. The opening line of the document reads "This Indenture made the thirteenth day of October in the fourth year of the reign of our Sovereign Lord James by the grace of God King of England..."
 
A treasured collectable or  a magnificent display piece and of course, unique.

 

The document measures  49 x 34.5cm (19.29" x 13.58"). The document will be delivered folded along the original crease lines.
