An original handwritten copy will dated 23rd June 1684 in the reign of King Charles II, referenced in the document as was common practise at the time; the will is on two pages of laid paper joined top left by a wax seal. The handwriting is in sepia ink and unusually clear and legible for the date of the document. The will concerns the last wishes of Humphrey Tomlinson, he made many bequests, we learn that he left each of his servants 40 shillings each - about £230/$310; clearly a man of some means he bequeathed his "Lands and Tenements' to his daughter and interestingly they were in the Parish of St Margarets in Westminster London, today one of England's more desirable and expensive areas. There is a lot more to uncover but we will leave that for the purchaser. The witness signature is preceded by latin text which confirms the standing of the witness 'Doctor of Law'.
A fascinating and unique piece of history.
The document will be delivered folded along it's original crease lines.
The document is written on vellum and measures 386 x 256mm (15" x 10").
