An authentic piece of 19th-century history! This is a completely original, genuine 1834 public handbill (broadside) or poster, announcing a High Court of Chancery decree regarding market tolls in the North of England. Printed during the reign of King William IV, this fascinating document would have been posted in public squares, markets, or coaching inns to inform local farmers and merchants of toll exemptions for upcoming livestock shows.
 
The Decree: Mandates that "NO TOLLS Shall be Paid" on the first Monday in March for "Horned Cattle, Horses, Sheep, &c.". It also lays out rules for the Easter Monday Fair, specifically exempting cattle but keeping tolls for "Horses, Hogs, and Pigs.".
The Printer: Explicitly marked at the foot: "J. Wilson, Printer, Darlington." This links the piece directly to the rich agricultural and industrial heritage of County Durham.
The Signee: Signed in type by James Allan, Receiver.
