The Reverend Ingram Cobbin (December 1777 – March 10, 1851) was an English independent (Congregational) minister, author, and Biblical commentator born in London. He was educated at Hoxton Academy (or College) and was ordained as a pastor in South Molton in 1802. Due to recurring health issues, he moved and officiated across several locations throughout his career, including Banbury, Holloway, Putney, Crediton, Worcester, and Lymington. He served as an assistant secretary to the British and Foreign Bible Society (and the British and Foreign School Society) and became the first secretary of the newly formed Home Missionary Society in 1819. Poor health eventually forced him to step down from active public ministry in 1828, after which he settled in Camberwell and dedicated his time to writing and compiling Biblical and scholastic resources. He published numerous commentaries, synopses, and reference guides—such as his Evangelical Synopsis, Condensed Commentary, and The Domestic Bible, as well as several Christian hymns.
