A collection of six 19th century invalid or infant feeders also known as pap boats used for those who were unable to sit up or use a regular cup, most with lips to prevent spillage, thus for the sick or injured. The example bearing the Maltese cross is stamped for Maw and Son the notable 19th century English surgical instrument manufacturer. The gilt finishes and floral decoration are all hand applied. The low, circular cream coloured example bears a stamp for “Homeleigh Ware” a product of Burleigh Pottery, a pottery founded in 1851 in the heart of English ceramic manufacture at the time, Burslem in Staffordshire. Antique medical equipment.

To give a size reference, the example bearing the Maltese Cross measures 147 x 120mm including the spout and handle.
