A superb, government-issue British Military Field Surgeon’s Roll/Pocket Kit by the legendary Maw of Aldersgate Street, London. This kit represents the cutting edge of military medical technology from the turn of the 20th century (c. 1900–1914).

Unlike earlier sets, this kit features all-metal, nickel-plated instruments, designed specifically for the then-new practice of steam sterilisation. Each primary tool carries the Government Broad Arrow property mark and the prestigious Maw branding.

Contained within its original, compact leather "pocket roll," this set was designed for the rapid-response environment of the field hospital. A rare artifact that bridges the gap between the Victorian surgical tradition and the modern combat medicine of the Great War.

The set includes a surgical blade plus a bistoury, a pair of tweezers and handle with two screw in fitments, a bone curette and a probe and a wooden fountain pen missing the nib section.

Condition Report:
Good military-grade condition. The leather roll is robust and supple with all internal loops intact. The nickel-plated metal handles are bright and show minimal wear. All blades and forceps carry clear "Maw Aldersgate St" or "Maw London" markings along with the Broad Arrow. The end of the securing strap is missing.

The roll measures 14 x 7cm when rolled.
