A carved wooden bookstand intended for use as a Bible, missal, or large volume stand on a table, desk, or lectern, today it could also serve as a cookbook stand.

The design is Victorian Gothic Revival, popular in English churches, homes, and libraries during the mid-to-late 19th century. The stand is solid hand-carved from hardwood and hinged through the two sections interlocking, folding flat for storage.

A beautiful and unusual item which would serve as a cookbook stand or as a book display stand, a thing on beauty in it's own right. Solid, substantial and functional.

The book shown is for context only and not included in the sale.
