This striking long biopsy forceps is a classic 20th‑century gynaecological instrument, designed to take tiny samples of tissue from hard‑to‑reach areas. At the distal end are two opposed oval “spoon” jaws, one smooth and one finely serrated, which close together to bite out a small biopsy when the plunger is drawn back. The slim tubular shaft and three‑ring handle give excellent control and reach, making it ideal for working deep within a speculum or cavity during examination.
The metal has an attractive, honest patina from age and careful use, with the spoons and mechanism still moving freely, so it displays beautifully in a cabinet of curiosities or alongside other vintage surgical tools. The triple‑ring grip and long, elegant profile give the piece strong sculptural presence, whether laid flat in a case or hung in a frame. This item is offered strictly as a historical / decorative artefact only and is not suitable for modern medical use.
Perfect for collectors of antique surgical instruments, gynaecology and obstetric history, or anyone building an apothecary‑ or theatre‑style interior.
The item measure 18.5cm (7.28") in length.
