Antique wood treen trinket/ring box or shaving lotion box fashioned from fruit wood in the style of an apple and dating from the late 18th or early 19th century. Beautifully patinated and hand made with the highest level of craftsmanship, 5.4cm in diameter. The original purpose of this item was as a shaving cream or lotion container but it would also lend itself to use as a trinket or ring box.

In the days before functional objects were routinely made from metal and glass, wood was the preferred medium, such objects collectively being known as Treen.
