An original antique hardwood British Policeman's truncheon hand painted with "VR" and "SC", "VR" stands for Victoria Regina the Latin title for Queen Victoria. The Victoria Regina marking confirms that the truncheon was issued and used during the reign of Queen Victoria (1837–1901). The "SC" abbreviation stands for Special Constable. Special Constables are volunteer police officers with full police powers. In good original condition with minor marks and similarly small losses to some of the lettering infill, it has a nice weighty feel to it and the ringed handle comfortable and tactile.
The truncheon measures 48cm (19") in length.
