A quintessential artifact of Victorian leisure, this "Library-grade" travel or cabinet chess set is as functional today as it was 150 years ago. Housed in a beautifully figured, solid mahogany folding case, the set opens to reveal a peg-in-hole board designed to keep the game secure during transit.

The set features a complete complement of 32 hand-turned bone pieces. The "White" side is natural polished bone, while the "Red" side features a red deep stain. Note: One red pawn is an associated replacement, expertly chosen to match the scale and character of the original set, ensuring a complete and playable collection.

Key Highlights:
High-Quality Mahogany: The case features a deep, authentic patina and original brass hinges.

Artisanal Bone Pieces: Every piece shows the unique grain and hand-turned detail of 19th-century bone-work.

Playable History: The peg-system remains tight and functional, perfect for use or display.

The case measures 20 x 10 x 6cm, the chessboard 18.5 x 18.5cm and the squares 2cm square.
