A rare and beautifully preserved "The Naturalist" pocket telescope by the prestigious London maker J.H. Steward. This precision instrument was the Victorian gentleman's companion for birdwatching, hiking, and exploring the natural world.
Based at 406 Strand, London, J.H. Steward was the leading optician of the era, supplying the British government and royalty. This 6-draw model represents the pinnacle of their portable optics, collapsing from 37.9cm to a pocket-sized 10cm.
