A Victorian Spyglass/Telescope, a Traveler’s Essential – Well-Preserved Mahogany Spyglass with Rare Original Case

Offered is a beautiful mid-19th-century collapsible telescope, a quintessential tool for the Victorian gentleman-explorer. This four-draw instrument combines the warm aesthetic of a solid mahogany barrel with precision-fitted brass tubes, collapsing from a 49cm field-length down to a compact 16.5cm.

Notably, this telescope is accompanied by its rare original card protective case, a fragile survivor that has kept the instrument in excellent condition for over 150 years, still in good solid condition with a fabric grain to the surface.

Specifications:

Era: Mid-Victorian (c. 1850–1870).

Construction: 4-draw brass system with lens cap.

Materials: Fine mahogany and polished brass.

Condition Report:
The telescope is in wonderful antique condition. The mahogany barrel is rich in colour with a lovely patina. All brass draws extend smoothly with good tension. The optics are clear, and the original card case remains structurally sound with honest age-related wear.

A perfect addition to a library desk, a "Dark Academia" collection, or as a thoughtful gift for a history lover.
