An early tonsil guillotine manufactured by Maw of London and dating from the late 19th century, it remains in operational order although it's working days are long past, an interesting and collectible medical curiosity. It is in good condition with some signs of surface tarnish. The open end would have been placed over the tonsil and the guillotine operated with pressure from the surgeon's thumb, this cutting through the tonsil.
This guillotine measures 13 x 16cm.
