An antique  brass Microscope by R & J Beck and from 1885 in it's original mahogany case. This is a beautiful microscope, appearing to be in good working order. The microscope is a magnificent piece of precision engineering and marked No 10537', the number allowing us to determine the date of manufacture precisely. The eyepiece secured on the side, a shelf inside the door holds two additional brass lenses. The case has a key which is not original to the case and does not work the lock but included for cosmetic purpose, there are some paint scratches to the body. The flat brass surfaces have an attractive burnished/mottled finish and the base is stamped with the makers name 'R & J Beck, London & Philadelphia'. The microscope also includes a pack of lens cleaning tissues and a small box of blank microscope slides.

The Microscope stands 26.2cm (10.31") high, and the case stands 28cm (11") high.
