A charming original antique Victorian chemist’s pill / ointment box from Savory & Moore, Chemists to the Royal Family, 136 New Bond Street, London. This small turned wooden box would once have held pills, lozenges or an ointment made up to a physician’s prescription for a fashionable West End client.

The circular lid carries its printed paper label, neatly framed within a double border and reading “Savory & Moore, Chemists to the Royal Family, 136 New Bond Street,” with an old handwritten prescription note in the centre. The box itself is lathe‑turned from pale hardwood with a snug push‑fit lid and plain interior, now empty and clean.

Diameter: 5.6cm (2.2"), height: 3cm (1.18").

Condition
Good antique condition. The wooden body shows light surface marks and minor age‑related patina. The paper label is complete but toned with some rubbing and old ink writing, exactly as you’d expect from a mid‑19th‑century pharmacy piece (see photos). Lid fits well.

Why it’s special
