A rare and intimate piece of Victorian social and medical history. This 13cm syringe is cast from heavy antique pewter and features a specialised closed "rose" tip with five precision-drilled irrigation holes.
Commonly used as a personal douche in the mid-19th century, this instrument is a testament to the private medical practices of the era. The small scale and tactile, unpolished finish of the pewter make it a fascinating addition to any collection of apothecary jars, women's health artifacts, or "Cabinet of Curiosities."
Condition Report:
Excellent antique condition. The rose-tip remains clear and unobstructed. The barrel is straight with a lovely, soft-grey pewter patina. The plunger remains seated and the instrument holds its original form perfectly.
Dimensions: 13cm (Length).
