Magazine. The Boy's Own Magazine Volume 1, 1863. A fascinating glimpse of history this little volume runs to 92 pages and measures 21.6 x 13.8cm, the soft cover has light damage to the edges and the rear is detached, the spine missing, the internal pages are clean and complete, full of stories, facts and illustrations and interesting old advertisements.

The Boy's Own Magazine was the first gender-specific boys' magazine, with the aim of both entertaining and building character. It started a genre much imitated created by various publishers right up until 1920 and helped shape ideas of masculinity in the youth of that period.
