An original antique Holy Bible published in 1799, likely a first edition. The Bible is in two volumes. They have leather bound hardback covers with gold tooled lettering to the covers and spines, some wear to external exposed edges, volume II missing the title page otherwise complete, tightly bound and with clean text and marbled inside covers. Printed by Sir J. H. Blair and J. Bruce, ‘Printers to the King’s Most Excellent Majesty’. The title page reads ‘The HOLY BIBLE containing the Old and New TESTAMENTS translated out of the original tongues, and with the former translations diligently compared and revised, By His Majesty’s Special Command’.
 
There is a personal inscription in the front of each volume ‘Ann Dundas January 1st 1802’.
 
Each volume measures 15.4 x 9cm (6" x 3.5").
