A pair of Binoculars made by the German manufacturer C. P. Goerz, supplied in their original leather case, they are Trieder Binoculars and they have a magnification of 6x, this is a very early pair bearing the registration number 122822, dating them to around 1903.
An early example of German military prism binoculars. The triangular aluminium barrels have rounded edges and are covered with brown leather, they are engraved “C.P.GOERZ BERLIN” on the front face of the left barrel, and “TRIEDER BINOCLE” with a triangular prism figure on the front face of the right barrel. “6x”, “Germany” and serial number “122822” are engraved on the bridges connecting the barrels.
The company was established by Carl Paul Goerz in 1886, trading in mathematical instruments, they began to sell cameras in 1887 the business was renamed as Optische Anstalt C P Goerz in 1890 and began to produce scientific instruments, binoculars and gun sights, later going on to become the world's biggest military optical manufacturer.
In good functional condition with surface marks and wear, one end of the case strap is unattached due to missing a buckle.
