Antique highchair, mid 19th century child's convertible highchair with a mahogany cane back tub chair with turned arm supports and front legs, a tapestry cushion with dove, a safety bar, metal fittings on the legs for an adjustable foot rest, the foot rest is not original but fashioned from antique mahogany of the correct period. The base is detachable forming a separate table base on turned legs; the table and chair are secured together with a vertical turned mahogany bar which screws into the base of the chair passing through the table to be secured beneath. The highchair stands 39in. (99cm) high .The patina is exceptional, matured, quality wood with a depth of colour that only ever appears through age and care. A rare example of a very high quality piece of antique furniture.
A charming addition to a nursery or as a display piece for a doll or teddy bear collector, or perhaps the most original Christening gift ever.
