Antique art book, Sacred Art published in 1898 by Cassell & Company. To quote the introductory text ' The work has been designed for interpreting the Scriptures from Genesis to Revelation by the medium of such works of art that have occupied the prominent painters of modern times.'

This is the large format version, hardcover, gilt title with half maroon leather binding, five raised bands and black boards. Corners and extremities are worn and rubbed. Tight binding with clean illustrations and text and an inscription in pencil dated 1899.

 The book measures 31 x 24cm (12" x 9.5").
