Vintage mouth gauge from the 1950's, this item would have been used to hold the patients mouth open during dental work. It has sprung handles with a sliding sleeve toothed locking mechanism to secure the correct position. It is in very good condition and was made by Thackray, Leeds. This item is 18cm (7") in length.
