A very large original 18th century deed with cased wax seal from the reign of George II, the document is vellum (calf hide). The seal is secured in a metal case, it has been broken and refixed. The custom at the time was to date documents relative to the reigning monarch thus this document was created in the '26th year of the reign of George II', which was 1753, so over 270 years old; the custom of dating relative to the monarch ended around 1790.

The document remains clear and robust as vellum is much more hard wearing than paper.
