An early Victorian Apothecary or Medicine Chest English, c.1860, the case constructed of French polished mahogany, with recessed campaign style brass handle to bottom drawer. The lid is red velvet lined and opens to reveal 11 glass bottles in a fitted case. The drawer in the base is released by removing the locking pin, accessed when the lid is open, the drawer contains a top tray with brass hand scales below is a glass mortar and pestle, a glass measure and a glass ointment jar, at the rear are 5 further glass bottles. 2 glass rims chipped and the key fits but does not turn the lock otherwise in good original condition.

 

The case measures  25.5 x 22.5 x 21cm (10" x 8.86" x 8.27"), (w x h x d) and weighs 6.5kg (14.3lbs).
