An original, cased clyster (enema) syringe set manufactured by the renowned London firm S. Maw & Son, whose name is synonymous with the highest standards of 19th-century surgical instrumentation. The iconic S. Maw & Son, Aldersgate Street, London maker’s mark, complete with a beautifully preserved royal crest is proudly included on a plaque on the nickel-plated syringe barrel. The set includes nozzles crafted from period-correct bone and dark ebony, the bone example screws onto the detachable arm. The catalogue page is taken from the Maw & Son catalogue dated 1870 showing one nozzle and so the ebony example was most likely a later addition.
