Antique veterinary instrument a 19th century bull nose ring made by Arnold & Sons veterinary and is stamped with the maker's mark. The callipers open and close and can be secured in position with the square metal ring which slides over the sprung locking mechanism. Good functional condition. The instrument measures 19.5cm in length. The catalogue pages are taken from the Arnold & Sons catalogue for 1870.

 

Arnold & Sons was a prominent maker of veterinary and surgical instruments, established in London and holding a Royal Warrant of Appointment to King George. They were located at 50-52 Wigmore Street and their works were in Lawrence Road, Tottenham, N. 15. The company was known for its superior instruments and appliances. In 1928, Arnold & Sons was acquired by Savory & Moore Ltd.
