A US made Vapo Cresolene set, distributed in the UK by Savory and Moore. The Vapo-Cresolene Company was established in New York in 1879, and their vaporisers, which used a lamp to heat cresolene for inhalation were used to treat a wide range of ailments but principally 'Throat and Lung Diseases'. The box is fascinating in itself with period graphics both charming and interesting, the vaporiser complete and in good condition except for a break and loss to the lampshade on one side.

The box measures 17 x 8cm (6.75" x 3").

A really interesting and quirky collectable piece of medical history.
