A Victorian travelling chess table, the inlaid folding box board raised on a telescopic pillar and tripod base - all fitting inside the top together with the accompanying turned and carved bone Uhlig chess set, Queen 7.5 cm high. The table stands 70.5cm high and the top measures 33 x 39cm, the squares 3.5cm, when disassembled into the folding top the box measures 39 x 16.5cm, the chess set sitting outside the table.

In good original condition with a beautiful patina, some cracks evident to the board but the no lifting of the squares. The chess set similarly complete and in good order but with minor losses those being a small chip to the red King and the very top of both Kings missing, probably a small ball on each.

A rare and desirable item, both as a display item and as a functional and beautiful piece of history.
