A beautiful walnut Travel Case, with mother-of-pearl escutcheons, the interior lined in blue velvet framed with gilt patterned black leather. The top tray contains 12 glass jars, seven of which have silver plated copper lids, the other five with glass stoppers, in the centre the padded velvet lid lifts out to reveal the storage space underneath which contains an interesting decorated thimble and small coral beads. This sections then lifts out using the brass handles either side, underneath there are a small number of old documents, all original and with the oldest dating from 1785. There is a secret drawer in the base which is released by pressing a brass button inside on the rear edge, the drawer is spring loaded, it closes with a nice firm click. One of the glass jars has substantial damage, cracks and losses and there is some small loss to the veneer on the rear back corner. The key fits the lock but does not operate it.
A really beautiful item, a quality artisan made piece that will enhance any space.
The case measures 31 x 23 x 18cm (12" x 9" x 7").
