An antique pewter syringe with a turned fruit wood handle and plunger, it predates the arrival of the hypodermic syringe by at least half a century. It would have been used for wound irrigation, enemas, or other medical procedures requiring fluid injection or extraction. The syringe measures 28cm in length.

 

The syringe easily disassembles and reassembles and all parts appear to be in good working order, there is a small crack in the wood of the handle.
