An antique  brass compound Microscope by Ernst Leitz and from the late 19th century in it's original mahogany case. This is a beautiful microscope, appearing to be in good working order. The microscope is a magnificent piece of precision engineering and marked No 49235'. There are three slide in boxes one containing three brass containers, two containing lenses, a second complete with lenses and the third with glass slides and a bottle of Immersion Oil also a spare eyepiece secured on the side. The case has it's original key which functions correctly. 

 

The door bears a small plaque Millikin & Lawley of 165 The Strand London, the original distributor. Millikin & Lawley operated from 165 The Strand from 1873.

The Microscope stands 30cm (11.81") high 36cm (14.17") when extended, and the case stands 37cm (14.17") high.
