An antique hand carved mahogany walking stick with a coiled snake design crawling up the shaft towards some geometric patterning beneath the top, the stick sits comfortably in the palm of the hand. Being hardwood this is a heavy and robust stick with a beautiful patina borne of age and use. There are no makers marks or other clues but we do know that sticks of this style were popular in Britain and the USA at the end of the 19th century. The is a repaired break which is not immediately obvious and does not compromise the strength of the stick.
