The catalogue page was taken from the Maw catalogue for 1870. Medical instrument.
The box measures 14.5 x 7.5cm (5.75" x 3").
Maw and Son were a British company S. Maw, Son & Sons, a manufacturer of surgical instruments and medical supplies. The company's origins trace back to George Maw, who in 1814 purchased a surgical plaster factory and later expanded into instrument manufacturing. His son, John, became a partner in 1826, and the company was renamed George Maw & Son. Over time, the company evolved, incorporating other family members and partners, including Solomon Maw and John Thompson, leading to various name changes like S. Maw, Son & Thompson and ultimately S. Maw, Son & Sons.
A really interesting and quirky collectable piece of medical history.
