A large scrapbook covering subjects from 1925, the album is full and covers the widest range of subjects, sport, transport, fashion, personalities, society figures, jokes, cartoons, wildlife and much more, this is a fascinating insight into the world at that time and more interesting because of the broad range of subject matter.
The booklet was originally a ship's log from HMS Barham and so concluding from the cover notes detailed below we can assume that this was created by a Sailor at sea. Apart from one or two loose pages it remains complete although with wear to covers and edges. A note on the inside cover says 'HMS Barham, Commenced 1 January 1925 Completed 7th September 1925' and 'Recovered 21 1 1930'.HMS Barham was launched in 1915 and saw active service eventually being torpedoed by a German submarine off the coast of Egypt in 1941 with the loss of 862 lives.
The album measures 32.5 x 20cm (12.75 x 8").
